11 Romantic Places to Watch the Sunset in Mykonos

Updated: May 29, 2023

Mykonos sunsets are not as famous as Santorini's ones but trust me that they are stunning.

I genuinely believe that sunsets near the sea are the best (but I grew up in a seaside town and used to watch the sunset every evening, so I have a biased opinion about it).

All the west side of Mykonos is good for sunset, but some places are undoubtedly the best.

Valentina's Travel Guide, 11 Best Places Where to Watch the Sunset in Mykonos

1. From Little Venice Beach:

Between the famous windmills and Little Venice, there is a small beach where many people go to enjoy the sunset every evening.

It is a lovely spot because you can see little Venice at the golden hour at the same time, with the waves crashing against it.

A Sunset Boat Tour in Little Venice Bay is an excellent activity to book for your time in Mykonos. The view from the boat is magical, with little Venice and the famous windmills turning gold by the sunset.

Little Venice Beach is a great place to be when returning from the beach or before having dinner in the main town.

2. Katerina's Restaurant & Cocktail Bar:

Located in the famous Mykonos Little Venice, this is one of the bars right on the waterfront, you can enter only from the back entrance (or you can try to swim till there and jump up to the balcony - I'm obviously joking).

Katerina's is another place where you can stop at any time of the day and night (almost anytime).

You can stop here for a coffee in the morning, maybe before looking for some souvenirs from Greece or a romantic dinner in a restaurant with a sea view. They have a little balcony with only three tables on the sea (you have to book it in advance if you want to sit there obviously) with a spectacular view.

To your left, you will see the famous Windmill of Mykonos and, to the right, a beautiful sunset.

They prepare many Greek dishes and also some pasta or rice with fish.

Cocktails are delicious, and there is also a Dj set to dance all night.

Opening Time: every day from 9.00 am to 3.00 am

Address: Epar.Od. Mikonou 8, Άγιοι Ανάργυροι 864 00, Greece

3. Baboulas Ouzeri:

We found this place just by strolling around the Old Harbour. We left our car in the car park at the north end of the main town Chora, and as soon as I saw this place, I booked a table for dinner.

Of course, I asked to get one of the tables on the edge near the sea to admire the town and the marvelous sunset.

This restaurant is part of my article: best restaurants in Mykonos with a sea view.

Guys, it was so romantic, and the food was delicious, with simple local dishes to love at every bite. The service was attentive, and prices were a bit cheaper than the restaurant in the middle of Chora.

If I ever go back to Mykonos, I will go back to this place for dinner.

Opening Time: every day from 12.30 pm to 1.30 am.

Address: Μύκονος 846 00, Greece. In the north edge of the Old Harbour.

4. 180 Sunset:

If you would like to get stunning pictures with the Chora in front of you and a fantastic sunset, this is a place you have to book.

It is called 180 Sunset, and it is pretty expensive but stunning.

You must book a table in advance if you want the spot you like.

The bar is divided into two sections. One is table free, so you sit wherever you want if the table is still available. The second section is for bookings. You can book the table you like, but you have a 50 euros minimum to spend per person.

It is worth the booking because if you get two cocktails each and a couple of appetizers, you will reach 50 euros per person without any problem.

Also, the free area can get crowded with people trying to take pictures with others obstructing the view.

5. Book a room in a hotel with a sunset view:

There are so many beautiful hotels in Mykonos to choose from that you will find the best one for you and your needs.

Still, if you are looking for a Hotel to enjoy the sunset every night straight from your room, you must look for one on the west side and ensure there is nothing that could obstruct the view.

My advice is to book a hotel near the coast, so you will be right in the first line to enjoy a view you will remember forever.

6. Mykonos Old Harbour:

There is a beautiful promenade at the Old Harbour where to walk at every time of the day. Some boats float in the water, making it a lovely place to enjoy the sunset and take stunning pictures.

After the sunset, you will be right in town, where many restaurants and bars will wait for you to make you end the day with a delicious Greek meal and a glass of Ouzo.

7. Kapari Beach:

Kapari is a natural beach where you will not find any beach clubs. Where the beach is fully covered in sunbeds like most of the beaches located on the south side of the island.

This could be the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset with only a few tourists, the waves crashing against the beach, and a fresh breeze coming from the sea.

8. Boni's Windmill:

I haven't been here for the sunset, but I passed by in the morning, and the view was stunning with the main town and all its white-washed houses seen from above.

There are some spaces where to park your car in the street above. Just make sure to get there earlier to to find a space and enjoy the sunset.

9. The four most famous windmills in Chora:

This is also a magical spot where to enjoy the sunset. From there, you will see Little Venice from above, and the view at sunset time is magical (they are located on the south side of Little Venice, so you cannot miss them).

11. Armenistis Lighthouse:

Located in the north area of Mykonos, this could be an excellent option for a beautiful sunset.

There is nothing else around, so it can be tranquil and intimate, the perfect spot for a romantic sunset without the crowd around you.

This area can be pretty windy, so keep that in mind.

I advise you to bring a towel, something to drink, and something simple to eat and enjoy an incredible Mykonos sunset.
