Mykonos is a paradise where having fun and relax on the beach.
There are many beautiful beaches with aquamarine water to swim in; enjoy the day while snorkeling, and let all your worries go.
There are beach clubs, famous beach parties, and beach resorts, and some beaches are perfect for watersports.
There are beaches for parties and families where kids can have fun playing with the sand while parents can relax, sleep or, like me, spend a whole day reading a novel.
Here is a list of the best beaches in Mykonos, so you will find what you are looking for, the perfect beach for your needs.
The beaches on the north side of Mykonos are usually very windy, the perfect spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing, while the beaches on the south side of Mykonos are more secluded, so there might be a nice breeze than wind.
I advise you not to spend all your holiday at the same beach but also rent a car or move by bus around the island and explore everything this famous island offers.
Remember that Mykonos is a trendy island, so between July and August, it can get so crowded that you will not find a spot on the beach or a sunbed where to lay down after lunchtime.
If you can, visit Mykonos in June or September when everything is open, the weather is fantastic but not too hot, it is less crowded and cheaper.
There are many beach clubs with prices ranging from 150 euros for a sunbed on the first row to 30 euros in the last row far from the shore.
Beach Clubs in Mykonos Prices
In some beach clubs, they will tell you that the sunbeds are free if you eat and drink at their bar/restaurants, so keep in mind that in these beach clubs, everything is expensive. To give you some examples:
Bottle of water 8 euros
Milkshake 18 euros
Any coffee and teas are 15 euros
Soft drinks 500 ml 15 euros
Energy drinks 18 euros
Fresh Orange Juice 18 euros
Spritz 25 euros
Bottle of alcohol from 190 euros
Cocktails from 25 euros
A glass of Prosecco from 48 euros.
These are only a few prices of one of the beach clubs I passed by. I did not buy anything; I only went in to use their lavatory and took a picture of the menu to show to my friends.
Of course, every beach club has different prices; the more famous the beach club, the more expensive their drinks and food will be.
The beach club's sunbeds rentals price depends on how famous is the beach club and in which row you want to stay. I found one that charged me 30 euros for two sunbeds and one umbrella, and I could leave my rental car in their car park.
I was only in the third row of sunbeds, so not bad at all (Be Cool Cavo Psarou).
Of course, prices increase every year, and it also depends on the month you are visiting Mykonos, so check out their websites for prices etc.
Most beach clubs took so much space on the beach that there is not much left for whoever doesn't want to pay for a sunbed, but you can still find some area, as I did.
If you find a spot on the free beach to enjoy your day and a security guard comes to tell you that you are not allowed to stay on the free beach near the beach club, do not trust them.
They are not allowed to kick you away.
Just tell them you will call the police to ask if what they are saying is true, and you will see how they will let you stay.
Unfortunately, these things happen. Just know your rights.
Mykonos Water Taxi:
To reach the most famous beaches in the south of the island, you can get water taxis that run along 7 of the most famous beaches from the early morning to the evening.
The water taxis start from Platis Gialos Beach (you can get there by bus or taxi) and will take you to the other beaches by paying a fee of 10 euros (one way), or you can purchase the all-day pass for 20 euros.
Mykonos Water Taxi Beaches:
Ornos, Platis Gialos, Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari, and Elia.
So, here is my list of the best beaches in Mykonos. Of course, I haven't been to all of them, but I did all the possible research for you about those I did not visit to make sure to give you guys, like always, all the information you need to make your next travel a wonderful experience.
Remember, if you are traveling on a budget, there are plenty of cheaper and more wonderful Greek islands to visit.
Many Grek islands have amazing free beaches where you can get a sunbed for a whole day just by buying yourself a drink at the beach bar (and the drink will cost you only a couple of euros, not a whole day's salary).
So if you are visiting Greece on a budget, my advice is to spend only a couple of days in Mykonos, visit the Chora and maybe a couple of beaches, but then leave and go to other islands with the same level of beautiful beaches but much cheaper.
If, instead, you have a lot of money to invest in a luxury vacation, this is your island, where you will find many things to do in Mykonos to make the best of your holiday.
Travel Tips: As soon as you book your next adventure, buy good travel insurance in case you need to “unfortunately” delay, extend, or cancel your trip. I recommend VisotorsCoverage for a short trip and SafetyWing for a trip longer than a month.

Beaches on the North Side of Mykonos:
1. Agios Sostis beach:
Agios Sostis is a tiny, natural, and quiet beach located in the north area of the island.
There are no beach clubs here, so no sunbeds and loud music.
This is the best place to go if you want to see the wild side of Mykonos before they will all be gone to leave space for another expensive beach club.
The only way to get there is by car, so check out prices and availability on DiscoverCars as I did.
Hotels with Agios Sostis Beach view:
Summer Mood Villas (private villa)
Horizon Traditional Beach House (mid-range private villa)
Bohemian Blue Villa (private villa)
Pssst: If you love spending time in nature, don't miss the opportunity to attend a sunset hiking tour in Mykonos. Enjoy what's behind the glamorous villas and nightclubs!
2. Fokos Beach:
Fokos Beach could quickly become your favorite beach in Mykonos if you hate a crowded beach full of sunbeds with music all day.
You are not going to find any sunbeds here or beach clubs.
This is a tranquil and wild beach to enjoy a nice swim and nap while lying on your towel.
It is located 13 km from the main town, and the way to get there is not easy, but as soon as you arrive and see this natural beach, you will love it.
In the case of wind, there could be pretty high waves, so please be careful if you decide to go for a swim. There is only one taverna nearby where to get some drinks and local food.
Hotels close to Fokos Beach:
Sofos Suite (Mid-range Hotel)
Koukoumi Vegan Boutique Hotel (Luxury Hote)
Villa Zaira by Opus (private villa)
Pssst: If you plan to spend some time far from the hustle and bustle of the beach clubs with your friends, you should look at a private boat trip and snorkeling sea safari.
3. Panormos Beach:
One of the most secluded beaches on the island, Panormos Beach is the perfect spot if you are looking for a beach far from the main town.
The sand is very soft, the water is crystal clear, and if you are looking for a luxury beach club, this is one of the places to go.
Romantic Vacation in Mykonos?
The famous Principote Beach Club is right there on the west side of the beach.
If you want a luxurious way to spend your day, this is the right place for you.
Principote Beach Club is so exclusive that you can also book the pick-up and drop-off at your accommodation and enjoy comfortable sunbeds, a VIP area, etc.

Lia Beach is located 14 km from the main town, and there are no public transports to get there, so you have to rent a car to visit Mykonos or rent a scooter (if you know already hot to drive it), or get a taxi.
The water is spotless and clear. It can be an excellent spot for snorkeling.
If you don't like a windy beach, I advise avoiding this one.
Located on the northeast side of the island, it can be windy most of the time, but in case the wind doesn't bother you, it could be a blessing so you won't feel too hot (in this case, please wear a lot of aloe vera sunscreen lotion to avoid to get burnt).

5. Old Port Beach:
The old port beach is the beach in the main town of Chora. Some people enjoy their day on this beach after spending the morning strolling along the famous white alleys of Chora after making the most of their Greek souvenirs hunting, but I do not recommend it.
Plenty of boats are anchored in front of it, and it is pretty crowded all around from tourists exploring the town.
It is a lovely spot to take nice pictures, but there are many more beautiful and natural beaches around the island for sunbathing.

18. Agrari Beach:
Agrari is a tranquil beach where you can relax. There is a beach club on one side, and the other side of the beach is free. It is also gay and nudism friendly if you want a spot to get tan and show off as your mother made you.
I like this beach because it is not packed like the other ones. You will not have to walk right in front of the sunbeds for a nice walk on the shore.
There are no buses to get there. You will either have to rent a car or a scooter, get to Elia by boat and then have a 15-minute walk, or get a water taxi from one of the other beaches.
There is only one restaurant and nothing else around. This beach is located 10 km from the main town.
