SANTORINI TRAVEL GUIDE

Santorini is well known for its stunning beauty and picturesque landscapes. It is one of the most popular and well-known Greek islands. Its stunning views and unique architecture have made Santorini a favorite destination for travelers and photographers.

With its crystal-clear waters, white-washed buildings, and stunning sunsets, Santorini is truly a dream destination for travelers from all over the world. I have been to Santorini during a two-week tour I planned for Greece, and I dedicated three days to Santorini.

During these three days, I spend a day at the beach, exploring the main town of Fira and seeing the famous sunset from Oia.

Best time to visit santorini

Santorini, like every Greek island, is a summer destination where to go to if you are looking to enjoy hot weather and spend days at the beach.

The months to avoid (in my opinion) are July and August, when the island gets very crowded with tourists, honeymooners, and cruisers.

Also, prices are crazy high during summer, so I advise visiting it in June or September when the water is warm, temperatures are not too hot, prices are lower, and you can easily walk around without getting stuck in a crowd.

I visited Santorini in the middle of September; the temperature was perfect, the seawater was fresh but not too much, and the only crowded place was Oia during the sunset.

The rest of the island was very quiet, and I managed to explore without any problems and get the first row of sunbeds at the beach paying only 10 euros.

May and October are perfect if you don't care to swim. The temperature is between 16/22 degrees, the weather is nice and sunny (most of the time), prices are even lower, and you will have the island all for yourself.

Remember that most Luxury hotels have suites with heated pools/hot tubs, so you can book them at a cheaper price and still manage to swim in your private cave plunge.

European Travel Alert!

If you are from the US and want to travel to European countries within the Schengen Area, you'll need to fill out an ETIAS visa waiver form before your trip and pay the €7 ($7.25) fees. This easy-to-complete form should give you instant approval, but it's recommended that travelers plan ahead and submit their forms a few weeks in advance of their departure date.

Is it easy to find Wifi in Santorini?

Wifi is available in almost every bar and restaurant and, of course, in every hotel.

If you come from a European country, you will probably have free roaming with your sim contract; if you come from outside Europe, you should get a pay-as-you-go sim card.

Greece lies in the Eastern European Time Zone, 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +2).

Is Santorini a safe island to visit?

Like every Greek island, Santorini is pretty safe, but like in every tourist area, I advise you always to be vigilant of what is happening around you.

Never leave your belongings unattended at the beach; leave your valuables in your room's safe.

Remember to never leave for a trip without good travel insurance.

I advise buying an anti-theft purse or an anti-theft backpack.

How many days do you need in Santorini?

You can easily visit Santorini in three days, but a week is perfect if you wish to discover every corner of this beautiful island and the islands near Santorini.
