Mykonos Sunset: 11 Romantic Places to Watch the Sunset in Mykonos

Okay, my lovely anxious travelers, gather ’round! Sunsets are my jam, like, seriously. I grew up watching the sunset every evening from my living room window, so I am obsessed with them, and I find them to be one of the most romantic things in the world.

Now, while Mykonos might not steal the sunset spotlight like Santorini, let me tell you, these fiery dips behind the Aegean are pure magic. These Mykonos vistas will leave you speechless, even if you’re used to the ocean putting on a nightly performance like I am.

The whole west coast of Mykonos is a sunset haven, but some spots simply reign supreme, and obviously, after our holiday in Mykonos, Lajos and I have our favorite ones, and you will too. So, you are going to enjoy fluffy pink clouds, fiery orange skies, and the Aegean sparkling like a million diamonds.

Sounds divine, right? Well, guess what? I’m here to be your sunset Sherpa, guiding you to the most swoon-worthy spots to witness this daily masterpiece.

Buckle up, my super-organized travelers, because we’re about to create memories that’ll have you grinning like a cat who stole a whole baklava!

Now, let’s paint the town (or rather, the sky) orange!

11 Best Mykonos sunset spots

1. From Little Venice Beach:

Between the famous windmills and Little Venice, there is a small beach where many travelers go to enjoy the sunset every evening. It is a lovely spot because you can simultaneously see little Venice at the golden hour, with the waves crashing against it.

2. From a Sunset Boat Tour:

A Sunset Sailing Cruise with Light Dinner and Drinks is an excellent activity to book for your time in Mykonos. Picture yourself gliding across the cerulean Aegean, leaving a trail of sunshine in your wake, and capturing the last sunrays of the day to achieve the perfect tan on your vacation. The south coast of Mykonos unfolds before you, and each beach is a gem waiting to be discovered. Dive into the crystal-clear waters of Elia, snorkel among the colorful fish in Super Paradise, and feel the sand squish between your toes.

And as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in fiery hues, you’ll be sipping unlimited drinks and indulging in a seafood feast fit for a Greek god (minus the toga, maybe). Now that’s a Mykonos moment to remember, wouldn’t you say?

3. Katerina’s Restaurant & Cocktail Bar:

Located in the famous Mykonos Little Venice, this is one of the bars on the waterfront; you can enter only from the back entrance (or you can try to swim till there and jump up to the balcony – I’m joking, obviously). Katerina’s is another place where you can stop at any time of the day and night (almost anytime).

You can stop here for a coffee in the morning, maybe before looking for some souvenirs from Greece or a romantic dinner in a restaurant with a sea view. They have a little balcony with only three tables on the sea (you must book it in advance if you want to sit there obviously) and a spectacular view.

To your left, you will see the famous Windmill of Mykonos and, to the right, a beautiful sunset. They prepare many Greek dishes and also some pasta or rice with fish. Cocktails are delicious, and a DJ will make you dance all night.

Address: Epar.Od. Mikonou 8, Άγιοι Ανάργυροι 864 00, Greece

4. Baboulas Ouzeri:

We found this place just by strolling around the Old Harbour. We left our car in the car park at the north end of the main town, Chora, and as soon as I saw this place, I booked a table for dinner. Of course, I asked to get one of the tables on the edge near the sea to admire the town and the marvelous sunset.

This restaurant is part of my article: best restaurants in Mykonos with a sea view. Guys, it was so romantic, and the food was delicious, with simple local dishes to love at every bite. The service was attentive, and prices were a bit cheaper than the restaurant in the middle of Chora.

If I ever return to Mykonos, I will return to this place for dinner.

Address: Μύκονος 846 00, Greece. On the north edge of the Old Harbour.

5. 180 Sunset:

If you would like to get stunning pictures with the Chora in front of you and a fantastic sunset, this is a place you have to book. It is called 180 Sunset, and it is pretty expensive but stunning. You must book a table in advance if you want the spot you like.

The bar is divided into two sections. One is table-free, so you can sit wherever you want if a table is still available. The second section is for bookings.

You can book the table you like, but you have to spend a minimum of 50 euros per person. It is worth the booking because if you get two cocktails each and a couple of appetizers, you will reach 50 euros per person without any problem.

Also, the free area can get crowded with people trying to take pictures with others obstructing the view. Book your table here.

Travel Safety Tip: As soon as you book your next adventure, buy good travel insurance in case you need to “unfortunately” delay, extend, or cancel your trip. I usually find good deals on VISITORSCOVERAGE for up to 1 month of trip length and SAFETYWING for longer trips.  They are insurance companies that cover everything related to your travel.

6. Book a room in a hotel with a sunset view:

There are so many beautiful hotels in Mykonos to choose from that you will find the best one for you and your needs. Still, if you are looking for a Hotel where you can enjoy the sunset every night straight from your room, you must look for one on the west side and ensure there is nothing that could obstruct the view.

I advise booking a hotel near the coast, so you will be first in line to enjoy a view you will remember forever.

7. Mykonos Old Harbour:

There is a beautiful promenade at the Old Harbour where you can walk at any time of the day. Some boats float in the water, making it a lovely place to enjoy the sunset and take stunning pictures.

After the sunset, you will be right in town, where many restaurants and bars will wait for you to make you end the day with a delicious Greek meal and a glass of Ouzo.

8. Kapari Beach:

Kapari is a natural beach where you will not find any beach clubs. Unlike most beaches on the island’s south side, entirely covered in sunbeds, this beach is pretty quiet and could be the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset with only a few tourists, the waves crashing against the beach and a fresh breeze coming from the sea.

9. Boni’s Windmill:

I hadn’t been here for the sunset, but I passed by in the morning, and the view was stunning with the main town and all its white-washed houses seen from above. There are some spaces where you can park your car in the street above. Just get there earlier to find a space and enjoy the sunset.

Heads up! Looking for the perfect tan this summer? Read my “Guide to the perfect tan.”

10. The four most famous windmills in Chora:

This is also a magical spot where you can enjoy the sunset. From there, you will see Little Venice from above, and the view at sunset time is magical (they are located on the south side of Little Venice, so you cannot miss them).

11. Armenistis Lighthouse:

Located in the north area of Mykonos, Armenistis Lighthouse could be an excellent option for a beautiful sunset. There is nothing else around, so it can be tranquil and intimate, the perfect spot for a romantic sunset without the crowd around you. This area can be pretty windy, so keep that in mind.

I advise you to bring a towel, drink, and something simple to eat so you can enjoy an incredible Mykonos sunset.
