12 Romantic Barcelona Viewpoints for Couples

The mere thought of a disorganized itinerary sends shivers down my spine (and let’s not even mention the time I forgot my swimsuit and ended up strategically draping a sarong – let’s say it wasn’t my most graceful poolside moment!).

But fear not, fellow explorer! Reaching the summit, you will be greeted with a vista that will leave you speechless – the Sagrada Familia in all its glory, the harbor dotted with bouncing sailboats, and the endless expanse of the Mediterranean stretching towards the horizon.

Barcelona offers more than just one viewpoint! I haven’t even mentioned the Tibidabo viewpoint yet. Imagine an old amusement park perched atop a hill, a throwback to a simpler time. Beside it stands a majestic church, its white facade gleaming in the sunlight.

From this incredible point, the city unfolds beneath you like a living map, a kaleidoscope of bustling streets, hidden courtyards, and architectural gems.

1. Tibidabo Viewpoint:

In my opinion, the “Templo del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus” is the best view of Barcelona. The church is lovely with its stained glass and the statue of Christ on top of it. It is a place you have to see when in Barcelona.

A lift inside the church takes you to the top. It was pretty windy when I went there, but not dangerous. A good idea would be to go to one of the local bakeries in Barcelona and pack some delicious local food on top of the Tibidabo while enjoying the view.

2. Barcelona Cable Car:

Barcelona cable car will take you to a viewpoint on Montjuic. It is the easiest and fastest way to reach the top of Montjuic, so if you are not scared of heights, it can be an excellent option to reach the top of the hill while admiring an incredible city view.

From the Port, you can take the funicular to Paral.lel Station (or the L2 or L3 metro). The return ticket costs 16 euros.

3. Montjuic Castle Viewpoint:

The Barcelona Castle is a must-visit. The view from up there is stunning; you can see the whole city from there and take pictures. There is also a buffet restaurant, souvenir shops, and an outdoor bar where you can get a sandwich or an ice cream before walking down the hill. 

I suggest you walk straight up to the castle and slowly walk down the hill to visit all the museums.

The Montjuic Castle is free every first Sunday of the month.

4. Mirador de Colom:

The Mirador de Colom is a magnificent monument in the heart of Barcelona’s port. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city’s sea-facing side.

The view from the top is truly awe-inspiring, as it offers a bird’ s-eye view of the bustling port and the Mediterranean Sea. To reach the top, you can take the lift, which takes you 60 meters above sea level.

The experience of being at the top is truly unforgettable and is a must-visit for anyone visiting Barcelona.

5. Park Guell Viewpoint:

The most beautiful Park in Barcelona is described as one of the masterpieces of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, who designed it in 1900 and inaugurated it in 1926. It had also been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. 

Here, you will spend hours walking around and taking beautiful pictures. One of the most photographed is the Viewpoint, where you can see Barcelona from the top. The entrance to the park used to be free but now you have to book your ticket in advance and choose the day and time of your visit.

6. La Pedrera (Casa Mila) Viewpoint:

La Pedrera is another beautiful building by Antony Gaudi, where you will admire the Mila family’s apartment. During the tour, you will visit the roof and enjoy a beautiful view of the flat, attic, and courtyards, where you will be amazed by their beauty. 

I went there during the day, but I heard that it is also spectacular in the evening, cause you can enjoy the stunning view of Barcelona at night. I advise you to book a visit during the evening to see Barcelona at night.

When in the area, if you fancy something sweet, only a few minutes’ walk away is one of the unmissable bakeries in Barcelona, Xurreria Trebol. Here, you can enjoy some delicious filled churros (the Nutella one was my favorite), so check it out.

7. Sagrada Familia Viewpoint:

This vast religious building began in 1882 based on the plan of Francisco de Paula del Villar, but in 1883, Antoni Gaudi was selected to continue this fantastic opera. It is a must-see when in Barcelona. 

Take your time to enjoy the outside of this beautiful construction, and then take your time to explore the inside; don’t rush through it. It is a majestic building, and it deserves to be admired. You can also climb up to the top and enjoy a fantastic view.

The line can be more than two hours long, so I recommend booking skip-the-line tickets in advance to save time.

8. Bunkers of Carmel Viewpoint:

MUHBA Turo’ de la Rovira, where anti-aircraft guns were installed during the Spanish Civil War, is a panoramic view that offers a beautiful panorama of the whole city.

It is a bit far from the center, but it is close to the famous Park Guell, so it could be a great idea to add it to your itinerary after visiting the park and before heading back to the city center. Look at this place if you have some spare time and want to explore new areas and enjoy a Barcelona view..

9. MNAC Viewpoint:

The Museum of National Art of Catalonia is Barcelona’s biggest and most important. It hosts more than 260,000 works of art. It has the most important collection of Catalan art from the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. 

The MNAC Museum is Free every first Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm and Saturdays after 3 pm.

10. Las Arenas Viewpoint:

Before climbing up to the Montjuic, I advise you to go up to the Shopping Center Las Arenas at the back of the Plaza d’Espanya (it looks like an arena, so you cannot miss it). 

There is an outside elevator on top of it, but it is ticketed. So go inside the shopping Center, up to the many escalators, and keep going till the top. You will see a big glass door, get outside, and be on top of the building for free. Enjoy the view. It is spectacular!

11. Palau Guell:

Another beautiful building, located in the El Raval quarter, was designed and built by Gaudi between 1886 and 1888 for the industrial Eusebi Guell. You can visit the inside and go up to the roof to see a nice view of the city. 

You cannot miss seeing this building if you like Gaudi’s works.

12. Casa de Les Punxes:

Casa Terradas (house of spikes) is a large Gotic residential house in the city’s center. Visiting it by purchasing a tour ticket was possible, but it is now a working space with offices.

If you are planning to work while exploring Barcelona and looking for a peaceful space to share, have a look at their website. They have great prices even for just a Day, and the Week Pass costs 25 euros daily.

Otherwise, it is still worth a visit just to the outside.
